2017 J. Dusi, Sly, Paso Robles

A creative take on a traditional Rhone GSM. A sultry blend of Grenache, Syrah and Tempranillo. Bright cherry aromas, earth, and spice with dark fruit emerging as you sip. Medium bodied, round and welcoming.

Tasting Notes

A creative Paso Robles take on the traditional GSM blend. Inspired by the winemakrer's great grandfather Sylvester “SLY” Dusi, who began the Dusi family legacy in Paso Robles in the early 1920’s. A sultry blend of Grenache and Syrah with Tempranillo in the place of the traditional Mourvedre, bringing earthiness and spice.

This well-rounded wine opens up with cherries and wild berry aromas then teases you with notes of crème brûlée and bubblegum. Medium-bodied, the entry is soft and sultry, then elevates into flavors of dried cherries and cocoa. With time, the dark fruit flavors from the Syrah emerge. Rounded tannins and a long finish invite you to take another sip.

Wine making and Vineyard:

The Never Idle Vineyard is a beautifully manicured 8-acre, dry-farmed vineyard, nestled in the hills of the West Side of the Templeton Wind Gap. This vineyard was carefully chosen to expand varietal diversity among the J Dusi wine program. All three varietals for this blend were grown in this vineyard. The wine was aged for 16 months in a combination of 60% French Oak and 40% American Oak. New Oak barrels accounted for 20% while 1-2 year barrels and neutral barrels weighed in at 40% each.
