2018 Comanche Cellars Pinot Noir, Saveria Vineyard, Santa Cruz Mountains

Fresh strawberries and raspberries, as expected from this Santa Cruz Mountain cool climate Pinot. Then subtle earthiness, spice and firm tannins from 29 months in french oak say, here's a Pinot that pairs with the coming rich winter meals.

Tasting Notes

Fruit forward entrance of strawberries with just the right amount of tannins and earthiness to create a full mouthfeel, and a finish infused with notes of cherry cola, pepper and a touch of spice.

Vineyard

The Saveria property could easily be mistaken for a French vineyard with its inspired setting - stone buildings and beautifully manicured vines in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Located at the southern end of the AVA, the vineyards are at 600 feet elevation and sloping to the south at between 2-9 degrees for optimal sun exposure. Sustainably farmed with no chemicals used in the soils.

Winemaking

This Pinot Noir was barrel aged for 29 months in French Oak, of which 50% were new barrels lending structure and slight spice notes to the wine. The tannins will pair well with charcuterie, sharp cheeses and roasts or meat dishes with rich sauces.
